Gluten Free At Chick-Fil-A

Hi Folks! How has the new year started for you?

Well that was a pretty big disclaimer for such a little post. But then again, I do find it alarming that sometimes folks just blindly trust whatever they see written on a random internet article.
Anyway, for today I just wanted to post some links that are current as of Jan 12 2019 regarding the allergens present in Chick-Fil-A menu items. I kinda wish we had these kind of restaurants up here in Ontario....but hey...with their rapid growth across the USA perhaps we may be next on their list for expanding market share into the north!

This is their main website home page :
https://www.chick-fil-a.com/

Their pdf link of food ingredients, current as of Jan 12 2019
is:

https://d1fd34dzzl09j.cloudfront.net/Allergen%20PDFs/AllergenInfo_1118_v7_1.pdf

From a quick gander at their list, I noticed that their hash browns, grilled nuggets and
Chick-Fil-A Waffle Potatoe Fries do not contain wheat as a listed ingredient. Also, it appears that their Vanilla, Chocolate or Strawberry Milk shakes also do not contain wheat as a listed ingredient.

However, note that they have many other menu items which do contain lots of wheat and gluten and so therefore the potential for cross contamination does exist.

If you wish to contact the company.... their contact information is listed on their website at this link:

Well, that's all for now. May God bless you with  a healthy 2019 as you enjoy His blessings and provision.

Peacefully productive,
Carla.

Yum... Breton Gluten Free Crackers from Walmart

Came across this precious brand of crackers labelled "NEW" in bright red letters.

Since, I'm currently gluten intolerant, I am always on the lookout for affordable gluten free snacks.

So Breton and Walmart have scored another brownie point in my book with this delish treat.

The particular box I bought at Walmart was called  "Breton Gluten Free--Original with Flax". The box even has a convincing looking blue seal of approval from the Canadian Celiac Association.
The only noticeable difference was when I noted that the boxes of crackers that contained wheat/gluten were longer and therefore had more crackers in them compared to the gluten free boxes which were being sold for the same price at 135 grams.

But I'll not complain about the shorter box, because the crackers were delightful, crispy and flaky and hearty all at once. If every gluten free adventure I have is as easy as this was, then I'm onto a good roll.

Peace and wellness in your gluten free quest.

Tim Hortons Now Carries Gluten Free Macaroons!

Woohoo! Fait Accompli! Not sure if I spelled that right...my french needs a tuneup.

But I am delighted to let my blog-ees know that Tim Hortons in Ontario Canada has just begun as of the last few weeks ago, to carry GLUTEN FREE coconut macaroon cookies!
And the big bonus? Yes, they taste great. No seriously, I'm not lying... they do actually taste normal and delish!
If my memory serves correctly, the price was 1.49 for two in a sealed plastic pack.
So I want to send out my congrats to Timmies' for listening to us finally and adjusting their mindset to this most urgent quest for a gluten free lifestyle.
Praise God.

Burger King Canada- Gluten Free

Hello Friends,

So I did a bit of research again and found the link to the ingredient listing for the Burger King restaurants in Canada posted as of today March 20 2013.
Find the information for yourself here at this link :

http://www.burgerking.ca/cms/en/ca/cms_out/digital_assets/files/pages/MenuNutritionInformation_December2012.pdf

Or you can surf their website at burgerking.ca

Note that right at the end of the long PDF file there is a list of the shortforms or abbreviations representing the different allergens that are present in each menu item. Note also their disclaimers and warnings. Seeking out gluten free foods is a bit of a science and research project, and each individual needs to seek out proper medical advice to figure out what is a healthy and practical approach. God bless y'all and enjoy this day that the Lord has made.
Peace.

Almost Like a Double Fudge Cookie

So, in the world of "Gluten Free" ya gotta give credit when one particular gluten free item does a pretty good imitation of the "real thing". So, today I bring you the "KinniToos Fudge Sandwich Creme cookie.
I bought the package at the Bulk Barn for just under 5 dollars. Now there is a bit of a gritty texture, which unfortunately is quite common for gluten free products, however, the pleasure is to be had certainly if you are someone who likes to dunk their cookies in their coffee or tea. These Kinni Toos Fudge Sandwich Creme cookies dunk superbly and taste about as close to a "normal" cookie as a GF cookie can get. ( by the way, these cookies are also Dairy Free, Lactose free, Casein Free, Peanut free, and Tree Nut free!)
Enjoy:)
Good Job Kinnikinnick Foods...keep em coming!

More Gluten Free snacks

Ok, you asked for it... more gluten free food choices.
I discovered KIND snack bars at a health food store in a tiny town.
They actually don't disappoint. Give one a try if you are trying
to reduce or eliminate gluten from your diet.
If my memory serves correctly, I believe i have seen these kind of "KIND" snack bars
at a Starbucks shop.
Bon appetito folks!   The more often you ask for gluten free products, the more often retailers and restaurant developers will start filling in that niche market for gluten free foods.
Ask your fave stores and restaurants to start carrying them.....
