When They Say NO

When you pitch your precious idea to the boss.....and it gets shot down..... doesn't mean its a bad idea. When you apply for that job and you never hear back....doesn't mean you are unimportant.

When you create something....something you worked really hard at....perhaps for weeks, or months or even years...and it hasn't found its audience....doesn't mean it isn't brilliant.

Sometimes the hardest roads are the roads most worth walking. Some fires burn so hot that we can not see the castle that lies beyond the smoke.

Some of you have carried great burdens, burdens that were too great for you age and stage in life to be carrying. Those battle scars are deep within your soul and psyche. It can be hard to believe in yourself...when you don't feel heard.

But permit me to circle back to the main point for writing this post. GEtting a "No" is just a "no". It only carries the meaning that YOU attach to it. Sometimes a "no" simply means..."not yet". Sometimes a "no" just means "yes, but in a different format". Sometimes a "no" is just because the answer is yes, but your gift must be handled and managed by someone else other than yourself.

Many artists are not particularly business minded. The few that figure out how to make a good living from their art, usually have to outsource the marketing to a person or organization outside their own home and realm of comfort. Art is deeply spiritual, and needs others to empower it's becoming. Every artist needs a tribe to support him/her.

Some of you have the "lone wolf" habit mastered to a T. You prefer to isolate yourself because you have been hurt or misunderstood by friends or family or coworkers. You would rather risk stagnation than face unknown people or opportunities. But stagnation has it's own cost. Artists and creative folks who don't find a platform for their work may fall into despair  and stop creating.... They may fall into the delusion that they will never find their tribe or platform.

Well, I think I've said enough for today. I just want to encourage one of my readers today. No doesn't always mean a permanent "no". Maybe your YES will come tomorrow if and only IF.....you don't give up.

May God encourage you who don't know where to turn. May God lead you gently, with your permission and in the ways and means which you may receive and understand.

In His Peace,
Carla
